Social Security [15 May 2006|05:13pm]
[ mood | silly ]

granted i'm not all that knowledgable about the issue,
but i can give you a solution.

1) raise the age to collect.
maybe this will encourage people to work longer and still feed money into the system.
and hope that some people die before they reach that age.

2) make it proportional to income.
here's the problem, techniqually the people who make more money, feed more money into the system, but they dont need things like entitlements. i think if you're in the top 15% of wealthiest people in america, wtf do you need more money for at that age, you had long enough to prep for it and save some change earlier. call it Society Support Security - securing the support of society by considering this a required charitable donation from your paycheck, get-over-it-you-wealthy-son-of-bitch-this-country-is-taking-back-a-small-proportion-of-money-you-made-because-of-it tax.

3) let me take over the world.

...# 3 would be the best solution to everything though.

congress babble bs [22 Apr 2006|10:33am]
[ mood | aggravated ]

the electoral college needs to be abolished.
none of this winner take all crap.
when you play sports, if you win it doesnt mean that the other team got NO points, it just means you got more.
with the connecticut compromise we established our bicameral congress, the senate to give each state equal representation and the house of representatives based on PROPORTION to our POPULATION.
for crying out loud, an exceedingly large amount of our voters are being just short of ignored because of this system, and sadly that's not many cuz of our nation's extreme voter apathy. the intent may be to mobilize voters, but it may be discouraging.
maybe it wont generate such quick election results, but the electoral votes would be muc better distributed between candidates directly proportional to the votes the win in the state.
this could encourage a third party uprise and maybe one day abolish the 2 party system we have now and similarly get more like europe. then we'll see some real campaigning, none of this democrat vs republican mumbo jumbo.

and all this federalism crap is making my head spin:
cooperative, competitive, creative, dual, fiscal, layercake marblecake....and several of them are synonymous w/ eachother, so why confuse us further!

and damnit! the corporations need higher taxes.
if we're opening more free trade and marketing it wouldnt hurt that the expanding companies that are dominating the economy could give a lil bit back to the capitalist country that allowed them to do so. for crying out loud, the money they're losing is pocket change to them... it's like buying a new rolls royce which they probably already have 5 of anyway.

and i dont think universal medicare/medicaid is gonna solve the health care problem.
instead of funding this, just set laws and regulations determining a better, more practical, level of health care benefits provided by employers. for crying out loud - better health insurance simply means that your employees can get and stay healthy and therefore not being calling out sick and not have a negative impact on your productivity. look at certain financial brackets of companies, and set guidelines of either how much funding they can contribute for employee health benefits or just increase to better care services. but none of this universal crap that gets stripped from everyone's paycheck.

i think i have more topics i want to rant about...
but i wish they were original thought.

[ mood | crushed ]

i may have to go straight to being mrs breana colbert

darn philip... have to go and be 6'6''
i dont know what it is about me and tall guys.
i'm just not attracted to guys under 6 feet tall (there was one minor exception...and we're debating on that lil butthead still... think guitar...)
and tv personalities...well you cant see their height...

why are politicians short?!?!

its unfortunate my newest crushes these past few months are short.
wow new trend.
have i changed my political agenda?
wow!
maybe i should see what party i affiliate w/ now?

the whole point of this "political rant"

jon stewart is only 5'7''

public/economic/environmental policy [15 Mar 2006|05:52am]
[ mood | dorky ]

there is probably already a program like this established,
but here's my idea:

we make a bill/act that enforces a certain amount of tons of waste/pollutants that an industry can produce (directly proportional to the amount of companies, buildings, size of each)
if the waste emitted exceeds the limit, they are fined....
hmm say... $10,000 for every 500 lbs extra.
that's only $40,000 for an extra ton.
which personally i think for these major corporations is pocket change, i think it should be much higher, but i dont know what is considered realistic in this case.

but here's the thing.
any waste/ton not used can be sold off to other companies that are breeching their limit and need more to continue production.
this is extra money to add to profit w/o using their product. its bonus cash.

hopefully this encourages:
companies to produce less waste
find alternative materials to use to be less wasteful
boost in the economy

and what's so bad? they do this and then ALL companies have extra to sell w/ no buyers?
doesnt that just mean we have less pollutant output?
if they are manufacturing the same product at just as good of quality isnt their productivity still the same?
it doesnt HURT their profits, they just dont get the extra cash. no big deal. (well not to them)

is there a loophole? now they can just buy off tons if they need to waste more
but in that case there is still a limited amount of toxins being released.
and here's what i like about best about it
the bill/act creates a decrease of tons allowed each year, by 2-5%
so even if they want to produce more, they're gonna eventually NEED to find alternative materials to not crash under financial suicide of just needing to buy loads, and if so, then there is still less being put out into the environment.

i'm sure i had more to expand on this. but i dont remember at the moment.

so when i'm senator, i'm gonna propose this.

idea inspired by: mr john rich and mr randy cambou

taxes and class reaction [10 Mar 2006|02:34pm]
[ mood | discontent ]

i dont get taxes
apparently i really effed mine up
and i'm only getting $78 back
and i could've gotten more
then heard i also filed wrong
where they wouldnt have deducted federal wages and whatnot out of my paycheck...
gar!

now today we were also talking in class about how to solve the budgit deficit and social security problem and whatnot.
and i was for eliminating SOME deductibles.
so i feel like a slight hypocrit here.
BUT i need that money to support myself on cuz my parents are *censored*

however.
i like how my class chose to solve the social security problem:

adopt-a-old-person (or as cambou called it adopt grandma)
give them monopoly money (cuz they're so blind they cant see anyway)
give them a long cruise
put them on an island of their own (or florida)
have them gladiator style battle it out (old person beat down)
and whoever survives we draft into the military have them fight in the wars
and line them up on the borders to keep out illegal immigrants

philip's demonstration of cheap labor building america: i mean look at slavery, we got rid of that
it was bad but odd sounding like he was advocating slavery
and irene: we need to up our terrorism
leaving out "defense against" leaves out a hell of a lot of meaning

gotta love that class!
poor cambou would be a one term president... if he didnt get impeached first

Things You Have to Believe to Be a Republican Today… [26 Feb 2006|11:31am]
Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hilary Clinton.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him , a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him , and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing healthcare to all Americans is socialism.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.

A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hilary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80's is irrelevant.

Feel free to pass this on. If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be stuck with Bush for 4 more years.

Friends don't let friends vote Republican.

things breana wants to abolish when she takes over the world [25 Feb 2006|09:23am]
[ mood | irritated ]

list part 1:

-gerrymandering
-the ability to sue over sorry pathetic reasons to deserve money due to erroneous liabilities
(aka children fall off monkey bars, city gets sued OR burglar breaks into house, gets hurt or whatever and sues the owner of the house, etc etc)
-our dependency on oil but actually funding programs to do so and not just talking about (take that gwb!)
-unrepresentative democracy
-life terms for judges
-party affiliation for supreme court justices (they should have to be independents)
-court efficiency
-the electoral college as it is- NOT as a whole (the electoral votes should be proportionally divided between the candidates)
-the 2 party system
-power struggle between presidency and congress
-all one sided, bias, stupid media networks on tvs radios etc. only people who allow all viewpoints and perspectives
-social security problem
-medicare/medicaid problem
-the wealthy will pay taxes like everyone else. and yes... i think the top most 5% wealthy should be required to pay just a lil more (they made their goddamn fortune here, they can help out by giving a lil back to it)
-all this corporation monopoly and takeover BS
-this whole partisanSHIT (this makes me smile...instead of partisanship) has got to go

and a bunch of other stuff that i cant remember at the moment

and yes. jon stewart should be president and stephen colbert vice president
and i should be the 1st and 2nd lady!

nuclear thought maybe [22 Feb 2006|09:32pm]
[ mood | thoughtful ]

i know the answer to solve our nuclear warhead problems.
think of it way.
these countries want power.
$ = power (unfortunate but true)
here's what you do:
offer a ridiculous amount of money to buy nuclear weapons.
have some black market evil mastermind group sponsored by the USA that hopefully is a faulty one that we set up by the govt FBI or CIA or something
and have them establish some credibility with the evil people in the world
then have them offer like a billion dollars for nuclear weapons and whatnot.
and then the countries that have nuclear weapons and want money will be like
"ooh pick me! i have 10. oh please make me rich so i can build more and commit genocide in my own country with filthy american money"
and then we'll be like HAHA SUCKER!
and know what countries have weapons of mass destruction.
and that will be the end of that crisis.

NEXT!
